It is easy for one who is or has been recently woken to the times we are in to become filled with despair, a feeling of defeat. Our enemies are numerous. Far from the days of when Christ's church seemed triumphant and was actively spreading to ends of the earth, its outer shell seems to constricting back inwards in apparent retreat. All of this is true, the church is being rotted from the inside, vast swaths of lands that had once been converted and vibrant in the faith are dim lights on the horizon now.
One reason this should be avoided, is that despair itself is sinful due to the second reason. That being that despair is a relegation to the idea that God is not God and cannot attain victory or that we are creating our own versions of history, plastering them on the world we see and deciding that since our own specific terms are not being met that this is evidence of a losing position we find ourselves in.
This is not true. The Christian, when rightly oriented and seeking to serve God and live as God designs is ALWAYS at odds with the world. He or She has ALWAYS been apart from the rest of the poor souls, clammoring about in darkness, we now just no longer enough the veneer that those in corporeal authority also "believe" as we do.
God's plan is his own, his will is his own. "Success" and "winning" are terms we use that must themselves have metrics that include failure to judge them by. God has no need for these terms or metrics as his will is as much assured as any "law" of the universe. He is I AM WHO AM, and his will is IS.
This is NO REASON FOR DESPAIR. I am reminded of the sermon St. Leonard of Port Maurice gave called "The Little Number of Those Who are Saved" where he spoke of the biblical as well as revealed truths that very few Catholics actually go to heaven. The sermon is dark and frightening as it should be, Damnation when contemplated on is not just "scary" but should begin to shake one with fear of the judgement of God. He however ends it with an explanation of hope. Souls are only damned if they commit mortal sins, mortal sins cannot by their nature be committed without your knowledge of doing it, thus you can only be damned by your own choice. Choose to seek forgiveness of the sins you have commmitted. Choose to not commit them again. Choose to serve and worship God. Choose to be saved.
In the end our souls eternal resting place is our own choice, Gods will, will be done.
Choose God. Reject Evil.
So happy to have the roof done! Thanks be to God! Without having the proper tools like scaffolding and a nail gun it was quite precarious at times and took much longer than what a professional can do but it's done! Like many things during this project, I figured out the best way to do it halfway through. In the second half of the roof, I figured out that taking the extra few minutes on every course to snap a chalk line saved a bunch of time on the back end because I could just line up every following shingle quickly in succession all the way across.
The ridge cap (top peak of the roof) didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to look like but I can't swing another $100+ to rebuy the pieces to make it as aesthetically pleasing as I would like. It works as its intended, just doesnt look like exactly how I would like.

When people talk about “science” they mean the faith of scientism, their actions betray that.
