Today we celebrate Christ's third appearance since his resurrection to the Apostles in The Gospel of John, Chapter 21. As they were fishing Christ appeared on the shore and called out to them asking if they had any meat. When they replied no, he told them to cast the net to the right side and when they did they caught more fish than they could haul into the boat. St. John then realized it was the Lord and St Peter jumped from the boat, while the others hauled in their catch.
While eating Christ asked St. Peter if he loved him, St Peter answered yes. Christ asked him a second and third time, St Peter becoming despondent on the third time. This is an obvious callback to Peters denial of Christ three times at the time of his arrest and must have been a painful reminder that was still fresh in his mind.
Christ then related to St. Peter than when he, St Peter, was young he would rely on his own strength and choose the paths he would take, but when he became older he would be strengthened by another and go where he was led. Christ then said "Follow Me"
This is where we are. Most or all of us reading this are as St. Peter on this day. We recognize that for the longest time we have been relying on our own strengths and they have failed us. We have chosen our own paths and they have led us astray. We must now choose to let the most high guide us and strengthen us. A complimentary passage in 1st Corininthians is as follows...
"When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But when i became a man I put away the things of a child"
It is time for us to put away the things of a child in our lives. Our distractions, our dreams of the material, our concepts of success and failures as it pertains to a fallen material world. We must choose to accept Gods grace, to accept his strengthening of ourselves and to walk the path he lays before us. We must not question or falter, we must not deny Christ, we must loudly proclaim as St. Peter did by the shore "Lord thou knowest I love thee" and then heed Christs response to him "Feed my lambs"
We are not characters in our own story, we are characters in the ultimate, grandest narrative. If we are to live the Christian story in the world we inhabit we must first live that story in our hearts. The inward projects outward, we cannot convert the world until we convert our own hearts.
So happy to have the roof done! Thanks be to God! Without having the proper tools like scaffolding and a nail gun it was quite precarious at times and took much longer than what a professional can do but it's done! Like many things during this project, I figured out the best way to do it halfway through. In the second half of the roof, I figured out that taking the extra few minutes on every course to snap a chalk line saved a bunch of time on the back end because I could just line up every following shingle quickly in succession all the way across.
The ridge cap (top peak of the roof) didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to look like but I can't swing another $100+ to rebuy the pieces to make it as aesthetically pleasing as I would like. It works as its intended, just doesnt look like exactly how I would like.

When people talk about “science” they mean the faith of scientism, their actions betray that.
