Chapel Update

So I've been slowly working over the past few weeks on the Chapel.

*Cleared the Area of trees, leaves debris, etc

*Dug Trenches about 18" Deep, 18" wide, far below the sandy lay to provide drainage for skid foundation

*Filled tranches with crushed limestone for drainage

*Have BEGUN laying the concrete block base for the skids (will keep them above even the gravel in case of minor flooding).

*Got frustrated with squaring and leveling the blocks so I started burning and oiling the siding.

What I'm finding out is, this being my first time I've ever built a structure not made for chickens
experience helps! I'm not great at squaring and leveling a place although I thought it would be easy.

Part of the is process is a teaching process not just "how-to" but to practice patience and humility a vice I have an issue with so I am making a point of this process to not become angry or frustrated and when I do begin to, to take steps to remedy it.

The leveling was bothering me so I switched to scorching and oiling the wood siding.

My process is this

1) Burn the boards with a propane torch to the level desired. The longer you hold the flame on the board the darker the final product will be. Even strokes are key or else you end up with oscillating patterns over the board. It was a challenge as the siding has angles in the Tongue in Groove that fit together so you need to scorch those edges first then the middle.

2) Hit it with a wire brush OR go straight to sanding. I found for this specific project I like going straight to sanding. I was hitting it with 60 grit then 120 grit, but found the differences between 50->120 and just straight to 120 nominal and offered no real improvement to the final product.

3) Take RAW LINSEED OIL (not boiled) and a rag and wipe the board down. Wear gloves. I hit the tongue and groove parts first to make sure they get oiled in case of any infiltration in the boards, then hit the full board after

4) Take your torch, lightly hit the boards again to dry the oil and the wood, sucking it deeper into the wood and allowing for a second coat on it.

The process is taking longer than I thought it would and adds a bunch more time to the project than if i was just brush staining and slapping it on or just using vinyl siding, but I know it will be worth it.

Chapel update: Roof finished

So happy to have the roof done! Thanks be to God! Without having the proper tools like scaffolding and a nail gun it was quite precarious at times and took much longer than what a professional can do but it's done! Like many things during this project, I figured out the best way to do it halfway through. In the second half of the roof, I figured out that taking the extra few minutes on every course to snap a chalk line saved a bunch of time on the back end because I could just line up every following shingle quickly in succession all the way across.

The ridge cap (top peak of the roof) didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to look like but I can't swing another $100+ to rebuy the pieces to make it as aesthetically pleasing as I would like. It works as its intended, just doesnt look like exactly how I would like.

I was working all day to get that last 1/2 of the roof finished and got to the peak around 10:30 pm. and wanted to JUST GET IT DONE. If i could do it over again I would ...

When people talk about “science” they mean the faith of scientism, their actions betray that. Conservatives and many Christians are completely blind to what is meant by the word and its why they are completely confused as to how “the science” constantly changes and is completely held as dogma from one day to the next even when in opposition to itself only days before.

We Talk about what is “Scientism” and why that is a large aspect of the Church of Woke today, a major faith for the entire world.
